Scripture Reading: John 14:27

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.”

Reflection:

In John 14:27, Jesus bequeaths a peace that transcends worldly understanding.

This verse is a reminder that the peace Christ offers is not contingent upon external circumstances but is a deep, abiding assurance that calms the troubled heart. As we contemplate this scripture, let us reflect on the nature of the peace that Jesus imparts—a peace that surpasses the fleeting comforts of the world.

Furthermore, John 14:27 challenges us to examine our responses to life’s challenges. Are our hearts troubled, or do we rest in the peace that Jesus provides? Lent is a season of introspection, and this verse invites us to surrender our anxieties to Christ, trusting that His peace is an anchor in the storms of life. As we journey through this Lenten season, may our hearts be guarded by the profound peace that Christ graciously leaves with us.

Prayer:

Prince of Peace, we receive the peace you offer. Guard our hearts from trouble and fear as we rest in the tranquility that comes from you alone. May your peace reign in our lives, providing a steadfast anchor in every season. In this Lenten journey, help us to release our burdens and find solace in the abiding peace that only you can give. Amen.
